Summary of WordPress User Roles:

• Administrator – Somebody who has access to all the administration features. This is reserved for a select few since it has so much power.
• Editor – Somebody who can publish posts, manage posts as well as manage other people’s posts, etc. Normally this is a fairly computer literate member of the booster club or perhaps even the head coach.
• Author – Somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.  Normally this will include the booster club Webmaster, President, and the Head Coach.
• Contributor – Somebody who can write and manage their posts but not publish posts.  This is used by other booster club officers. It will require someone with “Editor” authority to actually publish the post.

Notes:

• “Publish” means making the post visible on the public web pages.

Posts appear on the front page and also in RSS Feeds. Here are some simple instructions on submitting a simple post:

1. Click Posts under Meta on the user site or in the left menu bar if you are already on the admin screen.
2. Click the Add New link under Posts in the left menu.
3. Enter a title into the top box
4. Using the editor, enter your message
5. Use the Preview button to check your message (it will open in a new window)
6. Use the big blue Publish (or Update) button to submit your message

That’s all there is to it. If you made an error, you can always go back into the system and edit or even delete the prior entry.

Calendar events will appear in the right hand panel of our web site. Here are some simple instructions on submitting events:

1. Click Calendar under Meta on the user site or in the left menu bar if you are already on the admin screen.
2. Enter a short title (30 characters max.)
3. Enter a short description
4. Select the appropriate category
5. Set the start date
6. Set the end date
7. Click the Save button

That’s all there is to it. If you made an error, you can always go back into the system and edit or even delete the prior entry.
